I am always searching for effective modalities and training methods in order to be more helpful to my clients. The practice is run as efficiently as possible to offer exceptional instruction/manual therapy at reasonable rates. I aspire to present user-friendly cueing and truly customized exercises/programming so that every lesson can be as physically and intellectually meaningful as possible.
Some history - I opened my massage therapy practice in 1991. Within the year, it was apparent that I needed more knowledge to understand my clients' needs, so I embarked on a multi-year intensive study of functional anatomy with the St John Neuromuscular Massage Therapy organization.
Ten years later, I was undergoing a difficult, frustrating recovery from caesarean surgery which only improved with Stott Pilates exercise. Inspired by that, I received my certification as a Stott Pilates trainer in 2008. While searching for a form of cross-training to pilates, I fell in love with yoga and in 2016 added RYT-200 (Darren Rhodes/yogahour) to my credentials.
Years of pilates and yoga gave me a ton of strength, but over time I experienced a loss of mobility and ease of movement. That lead me to Gyrotonic Expansion System, a comprehensive exercise discipline that improves range of motion in every joint of the body. My license to teach came in 2019, after a long period of study.
While researching ways to help clients with abdominal injuries, I found a thorough and well-regarded rehabilitation course taught by a team of pelvic floor physical therapists. That coursework was completed in July 2024 and I received my certificate as a Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist.
In fact, for the past 4 years, I have been continuously enrolled in pelvic floor physical therapy courses, and incorporate that information into the pilates and gyrotonic exercises I teach every day.
Before committing exclusively to private practice, I taught for years at Healthworks Fitness Centers (Back Bay), Harvard University Wellness Center, Harvard University Gyms, Boston University, Harvard Business School, and private studios in the area.
Prior to opening my practice, I was an avant-garde dance and theater performer. I love working with people, mindful walking and hiking.
